COT Atlas is an information service operated by [business name — not yet registered]. Everything it publishes is general information about data the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission has already made public. None of it is investment advice, a personal recommendation, investment research, or a solicitation or offer to buy or sell any financial instrument.
Nothing here is tailored to you. We know nothing of your objectives, your financial situation, your experience or your capacity to bear loss, and we make no assessment of whether any instrument is suitable or appropriate for you. No advisory or fiduciary relationship arises between us because you read these pages or pay for access to them.
We are not an investment firm, an investment adviser, a broker, a portfolio manager or a benchmark administrator, and we are not licensed or supervised as any of those by the Securities Market Agency of Slovenia or by any other authority. We hold no client money and no client assets.
Because we are not a regulated firm, the protections that come with dealing with one — investor compensation schemes, suitability assessments, best execution, an ombudsman for investment complaints — do not apply here.
The data pages show what each category of market participant reported holding, how that compares with its own recent past, and how long the pattern has held. They do not tell you what to do about it.
The daily report goes further: it sets out one trader’s own view of the market, including the levels he would act on and where he would stop, published as a record of how he trades. It is written for every reader alike. We know nothing of your objectives, your means, your experience or your capacity to bear loss, we make no assessment of whether anything is suitable for you, and nothing in it is directed at you in particular. Treat it as one person’s opinion, which is what it is.
It is connected to no broker and no exchange, it cannot place, modify or close an order, and it never will without you being told plainly and asked first. Every decision, and every consequence, is yours.
Futures and other leveraged instruments carry a high level of risk and are not suitable for everyone. Leverage magnifies losses as much as gains. You can lose your entire deposit, and with margined positions you can lose more than you put in and be required to pay the difference.
Do not trade with money you cannot afford to lose. If you are unsure whether an instrument or a strategy is right for you, take independent advice from a qualified professional who is authorised to give it, and who knows your circumstances.
Everything shown is historical. Positioning describes where the market has been, not where it is going. Any pattern visible in past data may fail to repeat, may repeat with different timing, or may reverse. Past performance and past positioning are not a reliable indicator of future results.
Two limits are worth stating outright. The figures are as of Tuesday’s close and are published the following Friday afternoon — the newest row is already three days old when you see it. And the categories are broad: a single reported position may be a directional bet, a hedge against a physical holding, or one leg of a spread, and the report does not distinguish between them.
Figures for all 36 markets originate with the CFTC Commitments of Traders release — the Legacy report, futures only — and are reproduced as published, including any revision the CFTC later makes. The CFTC does not endorse this service, is not associated with it, and is not responsible for anything shown here.
The data is provided as is, without warranty of accuracy, completeness or timeliness. Errors in transmission, processing or display are possible, and the service may be delayed or unavailable. Verify against cftc.gov before relying on any single week.
The service is offered from Slovenia and is not directed at anyone in a place where publishing or subscribing to it would be unlawful. If that is where you are, the service is not for you, and it is your responsibility to know which rules apply to you.
